Sherwood Cinema Center
Pacific Lumber, a local building products firm with several yards in the Portland area, sat on a prime piece of commercial property at the entrance to the Sherwood cinemas. It became apparent to brothers Jim and Steve Morse that they would benefit from moving the lumber yard and developing the land for retail use. They came to the Robert Evans Company with the vision of a retail center for multiple tenants. Within a year, the Morses' concept had passed design stage, construction was completed and the 17,000 square feet were ready for tenants.
"We're really glad we partnered with the Robert Evans Company," said Jim. "The workmanship was outstanding, and we have to hand it to them — they were able to keep on schedule even with inclement weather."
Perhaps the biggest challenge was managing 800 lineal feet of road improvements at the entrance to the property (which needed round-the-clock access). The work required especially close cooperation with utility companies.
"It turned out great," said Jim. "Our tenants are delighted to have such a highly visible location in Sherwood."
